Symposium Program updated!
This workshop will celebrate the 21st anniversary of the International Workshops on Methodology for Genetic Studies of Twins and Families which was first held in Leuven, Belgium in August 1987. Introductory and Advanced Workshops have been held almost annually since then, the majority of them being held in Boulder, Colorado funded by NIMH. In addition two NATO-funded workshops were held in Leuven, one was held in Helsinki, and four ‘spin-off’ workshops were held in Egmond, the Netherlands, sponsored by GenomeEUTwin. During the past 20 years, over 1000 individuals have been trained at the workshops.
The program for the anniversary workshop will focus on novel research methods and the latest developments in the following areas of research:
- Phenomics (Assessment, Psychometrics, Measurement Issues, Neuroimaging and Endophenotypes); Study Design, Power and Simulation; and Error Checking
- Advanced Genetic Epidemiology (Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), Markov Chain Monte Carlo Methods (i.e. Bugs), Genotype x Environment Interaction (GxE) & Correlation (rGE), Extended Twin-Family Designs)
- Linkage (Variance Component, Regression); Association (Single Marker, Family-based Association; Haplotype Mapping); Replication & Multiple Testing; Animal Models
- Genome-wide Association; Data Mining and Publicly Available Data Sources
A symposium will be held on The Past, Present and Future of Statistical Genetics.
This advanced course is intended for those who have attended earlier workshops and/or who are familiar with or interested in statistical genetic methods and applications.
